<p>As some of you may already know, I am currently in the middle of a very intentional experiment. I decided to radically <a href="https://hisensitives.com/blog/getting-rid-social-media-addiction-highly-sensitive-person/"><strong>reduce my social media use</strong></a> after realizing that I was deeply addicted. I deleted TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook from my phone because I noticed how much time I spent scrolling, comparing myself, and living through a screen instead of actually living my own life.</p>



<p>What surprised me most after deleting these apps was not just the withdrawal, but the amount of time that suddenly appeared. Evenings felt longer. Moments of boredom surfaced. And I realized that if I did not consciously choose activities without your phone, my phone would simply sneak back in through other distractions.</p>



<p>That realization inspired this blog. Because maybe you are also trying to use social media less. Maybe you feel bored, restless, or unsure how to fill your time in a way that actually supports your life. This blog is written from a child-free perspective. I fully respect that if you have children, free time may look very different for you. Please keep that in mind while reading.</p>



<p>Below you will find inspiration, divided by type of activity, all focused on personal growth, nervous system regulation, connection, and simple joy.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-creative-activities-that-nourish-your-sensitivity">Creative activities that nourish your sensitivity</h2>



<p>As a highly sensitive person, creativity is one of my biggest regulators. One of the first things I picked up during my social media detox was sewing. I have been sewing curtains, improving our home, and working with fabric almost daily. It calms my mind and gives my hands something meaningful to do. Maybe you too can find a creative hobby to fill your free time with!</p>



<p><strong>Creative activities without your phone can include:</strong></p>

<p>Not all boredom needs excitement. Sometimes your nervous system simply needs something to focus on without being overstimulated. I noticed that puzzling and word games work very well for this.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-decluttering-and-organizing-for-inner-calm">Decluttering and organizing for inner calm</h2>



<p>Decluttering has quietly become one of my most impactful activities. Especially while renovating our home, I noticed how much clutter had accumulated. For highly sensitive people, clutter often translates directly into mental overwhelm.</p>



<p>Useful and grounding activities include:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list has-medium-font-size">
<li>Decluttering one drawer or cupboard;</li>



<li>Sorting clothes and donating unused items;</li>

<p>These activities are not glamorous, but they create visible relief and emotional space.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-physical-movement-that-supports-your-body">Physical movement that supports your body</h3>



<p>Movement is something I personally neglected for years. Now that I am turning 34, I clearly feel the consequences. That is why movement has become a priority for me this year.</p>



<p><strong>Gentle, accessible movement activities include:</strong></p>

<li>Walking in nature or the woods;</li>



<li>Yoga at home (I love using my <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/49USdg7">grounding mat</a></strong> for this!);</li>

<li>Dancing in your living room.</li>
</ul>



<p>Physical movement is one of the most powerful activities without your phone to support your mental and emotional health.</p>

<p>There are many small tasks we postpone that actually bring satisfaction once done. These activities ground you in your environment and give a sense of completion.</p>



<p><strong>Examples of meaningful home activities include:</strong></p>

<li>Cooking or baking a nourishing meal;</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-real-life-social-connection-without-screens">Real-life social connection without screens</h2>



<p>Social media often replaces real connection, but it rarely fulfills it. As a highly sensitive person, I deeply value meaningful one-on-one moments.</p>



<p><strong>Phonescreen-free social activities include:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list has-medium-font-size">
<li>Meeting a friend for coffee or tea;</li>



<li>Going for a walk together;</li>



<li>Visiting family;</li>



<li>Inviting someone over for dinner;</li>



<li>Going to the movies with your partner.</li>
</ul>



<p>These moments nourish connection in a way scrolling never can.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-personal-growth-activities-without-pressure">Personal growth activities without pressure</h2>



<p>Personal growth does not have to be intense or productive. It can be gentle and reflective.</p>

<li>Reviewing what drains and nourishes you.</li>
</ul>



<p>These activities without your phone help you reconnect with yourself instead of external noise.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-low-cost-high-impact-choices">Low-cost, high-impact choices</h2>



<p>Almost all activities listed here cost little to nothing. That is intentional. A meaningful life does not require constant consumption. It requires presence. Reducing phone use is not about restriction. It is about redirection. About choosing activities that support your nervous system, your growth, and your real life.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re anything like me, the start of a new year often comes with a flood of motivation and, well… pressure. We see the world pushing for big, bold resolutions, talking about massive transformations and hitting all those numbers—like running a marathon, losing a certain amount of weight, or hitting financial milestones. And while that works for some, it felt <em>so stressful</em> for me as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP).</p>



<p>I&#8217;ve been caught in that cycle—setting huge goals, getting super excited, only to feel overwhelmed and guilty when life didn’t go according to plan. I remember one year setting a goal to work out five times a week, thinking I needed to push myself harder to feel accomplished. But when I missed a few workouts due to a busy week, the guilt crept in hard. I felt like a failure and started avoiding my goal altogether. It left me feeling like I wasn’t doing enough, even though I was giving my all.</p>



<p>That’s when I realized: goal-setting shouldn’t feel like a constant uphill battle. It should feel empowering, gentle, and aligned with what truly matters to you.</p>

<p>The typical goal-setting advice often feels like it’s built for a world where pushing harder equals success. But for HSPs, that pressure can feel downright overwhelming. Here’s why:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Overwhelm and Stress:</strong> When goals are tied to rigid deadlines and expectations, it can overstimulate our nervous systems, leaving us exhausted.</li>



<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Self-Criticism:</strong> If we fall short, it often triggers a spiral of guilt, self-doubt, and feeling like a failure.</li>



<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Disconnection:</strong> When goals focus only on external outcomes, they can feel hollow, pulling us away from what truly matters.</li>
</ul>



<p>Dr. Elayne Daniels puts it beautifully: <em>&#8220;HSPs thrive when goals feel value-driven, not when they&#8217;re simply numbers on a checklist. It&#8217;s about how you feel, not just what you achieve.&#8221;</em></p>



<p>I’ve personally felt this disconnect. One year, I set a goal to hit a specific financial milestone in my business. But instead of focusing on why I wanted to reach that number—like more freedom, stability, and creativity—I obsessed over the figure itself. When I missed the mark, it felt crushing, even though I had made incredible progress.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-does-a-gentle-goal-setting-routine-look-like">What Does a Gentle Goal-Setting Routine Look Like?</h2>



<p>A supportive, gentle goal-setting routine is all about shifting the focus from rigid outcomes to the deeper <em>why</em> behind your goals. It’s less about external pressure and more about self-compassion, personal growth, and alignment.</p>



<p>Here’s how you can create a goal-setting routine that feels supportive, not stressful:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Focus on Your Values:</strong> Ask yourself—what truly matters to you? Is it creativity, connection, peace, or personal growth? Goals rooted in your core values will always feel more meaningful.</li>



<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Create Open-Ended Intentions:</strong> Instead of saying, “I will work out five times a week,” try: <em>“I want to move my body in ways that feel joyful and energizing.”</em> This keeps the focus on the experience rather than rigid results.</li>



<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Tune into Your Body:</strong> Before setting goals, check in with yourself. Does this goal feel inspiring or anxiety-inducing? A gentle stretch outside your comfort zone should still feel empowering, not overwhelming.</li>



<li class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Break It Down:</strong> Large goals can feel daunting. Breaking them into small, doable steps lets you celebrate progress along the way.</li>
</ul>



<p>For example, instead of setting a goal to “read 50 books this year,” I’ve shifted to saying, “I want to create more space for reading stories that inspire and relax me.” It feels gentler and more fulfilling.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-power-of-celebrating-small-wins">The Power of Celebrating Small Wins</h2>



<p>One of the most transformative shifts I’ve made is learning to <strong>celebrate small wins.</strong></p>



<p>I even created a Monthly Goal Bingo where I write down nine gentle goals and reward myself when I complete a row or column! Sometimes it’s treating myself to a cozy coffee shop visit, a peaceful walk in the woods, or a quiet evening with my favorite book. These small celebrations remind me that progress isn’t about the finish line—it’s about the moments along the way.</p>



<p>When I started celebrating progress, I felt so much more motivated. I wasn’t waiting for a big end result to feel proud—I was proud <em>along the way.</em></p>

<p>Alright, let’s talk about something that’s become a bit of a buzzword in the spiritual world lately—<strong>manifesting</strong>. Whether you’re new to it or have heard it mentioned over and over again, manifesting is a big deal for a reason. It’s all about aligning your energy and mindset to attract the things you want into your life. Today, I want to share my own experience with manifesting, how it’s changed my life, and some practical tips for getting started yourself.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-i-discovered-manifesting">How I Discovered Manifesting</h2>



<p>I was first introduced to manifesting back in 2018 when I read the book <a href="https://amzn.to/3Y3Rnro"><strong>The Universe Has Your Back</strong></a> by Gabrielle Bernstein. The book really opened my eyes to the idea that the universe is always working in our favor—we just have to trust the process and align ourselves with the life we want to create. The idea that we’re supported by something greater than ourselves really hit home for me. It was also the year that I launched <strong><a href="https://hisensitives.com/about/">HiSensitives</a></strong> and shared the <strong><a href="https://hisensitives.com/blog/the-symbol-for-highly-sensitive-people-and-what-it-means/">HSP symbol</a> </strong>with the world, which marked a huge leap of faith in my journey.</p>



<p>Reading that book gave me the confidence to trust not only in the universe but also in myself. That’s really the essence of manifesting: having faith in your abilities while also trusting that you are being guided toward the right path. Looking back, I can see how this shift in mindset made everything I’ve achieved since then possible.</p>



<p>But manifesting isn’t just about setting goals or making wishes. It’s about aligning your energy with your desired future. And at that time, when I was still healing from past trauma, struggling financially, and stuck in a job that wasn’t fulfilling, I found it hard to get into the right mindset. I felt blocked. It’s like, &#8220;Oh great, here we go with the manifesting talk again, but I’m not in the right space for it.&#8221;</p>



<p>Still, I decided to give it a try, starting small. And slowly but surely, I noticed subtle changes in my life. Those small shifts eventually turned into bigger transformations, and I realized that manifesting was real—it just required consistency and faith.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-my-top-tips-for-manifesting">My Top Tips for Manifesting</h2>



<p>There are countless ways to manifest, but I want to share the practices that have worked best for me and have become a regular part of my life.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-1-practice-gratitude">1. Practice Gratitude</h3>



<p>I know, I know. You’ve heard it a thousand times: <em>practice gratitude</em>. But hear me out—it’s the cornerstone of manifesting. When you’re genuinely grateful for what you already have, you’re vibrating at a higher frequency, which attracts even more abundance. Instead of focusing on lack or desire, you’re focusing on abundance and fulfillment.</p>



<p>For example, instead of saying, “I <em>want</em> $5,000 in my bank account,” try shifting it to, “I’m <em>grateful for the opportunities</em> that bring $5,000 into my life.” That subtle change in wording can make a huge difference in how you align your energy. I like to incorporate gratitude into my daily routine—sometimes in the morning, sometimes at night, and whenever I notice my energy starting to dip. It’s a constant practice.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-2-work-with-the-moon-phases">2. Work with the Moon Phases</h3>



<p>This one is a bit more personal to me as a Cancer Sun (hello, astrology fans!). I love working with the moon phases to manifest. The collective energy of the new moon is perfect for setting new intentions and inviting new things into your life. So, every <strong><a href="https://hisensitives.com/blog/new-moon-rituals-empaths/">new moon</a></strong>, I write down my goals for the upcoming moon cycle, focusing on how it would feel to already have achieved those goals.</p>



<p>During the full moon, I focus on letting go of anything that’s blocking my manifestations. I like to write down whatever I want to release—fears, limiting beliefs, negative energy—and then burn the paper in a small ritual to symbolize releasing those obstacles. It’s a powerful way to clear space for what you want to bring in.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-3-eft-tapping-emotional-freedom-technique">3. EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique)</h3>



<p><strong><a href="https://hisensitives.com/blog/eft-tapping-highly-sensitive-person/">EFT tapping</a></strong> is one of my secret tools for manifesting, especially as a highly sensitive person. It’s a technique that involves tapping on acupressure points on your body while repeating affirmations. It helps regulate your nervous system and release negative emotions, which is crucial for manifesting. When you’re calm and aligned, your frequency is naturally higher, and that’s when the magic happens.</p>



<p>For me, EFT tapping is a great way to reprogram old limiting beliefs and replace them with positive ones. When I tap and affirm my goals, it feels like I’m rewiring my energy to align with what I want to attract.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-4-the-369-method">4. The 369 Method</h3>



<p>When I want to manifest something quickly, I use the 369 method. This technique involves writing down your manifestation three times in the morning, six times in the afternoon, and nine times in the evening. Each time you write it down, really feel into the energy of already having what you desire. It’s all about creating and maintaining that frequency throughout the day.</p>

<p>You know, we all have those moments where life feels a bit dull, and we find ourselves questioning, “Is this it?”. <p>When you’re feeling stuck, one of the best things you can do is to surround yourself with inspiration. Look for events in your area that resonate with what you&#8217;re struggling with. For instance, if you’re grappling with self-love and insecurity, find a self-love workshop. If you’re unsure about the next steps in your business, attend a business growth seminar. Or if you&#8217;re a parent feeling overwhelmed, look for parenting support groups or workshops. </p>



<p>The goal of these events is to feed you with new ideas, shift your perspective, and give you a renewed sense of purpose.
