Valentina Buscemi
Dr Valentina Buscemi qualified as a Physiotherapist in Italy in 2006, and is also a Chartered Physiotherapist in the UK. She has extensive experience in musculoskeletal as well as neurological conditions. She has always been deeply passionate about understanding the science behind chronic pain and fatigue and their recovery processes. She earned a PhD in Australia in 2019, and then she worked as a Specialist Physiotherapist at the Pain Management Unit of Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Hospital of London (UK), where she trained as a Pain Physiotherapist in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Moreover, in the last few years, she trained as a Mindfulness teacher, Applied Polyvagal Theory in Therapeutic Yoga and Integrated Somatic Trauma Therapy.
Dr Valentina Buscemi is a Teacher Trainer and Lecturer at the University of Genova where she teaches the Neuroscience of Pain at a Master level for Italian Physiotherapists.
In her work, as a Trainer, Speaker and Pain Physiotherapist, she focuses on the interconnection between chronic stress, trauma, health, pain and fatigue, and how to integrate a variety of body-mind models and practical techniques to promote healing and recovery.
As she qualified as an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) knowledgeable healthcare professional, she supports neurodiverse patients and she runs a monthly online support group for HSP Women, to foster sisterhood, connection and creativity.
